The history of Concordia Hotel Bumi Sangkuriang is rooted in the historic Société Concordia association, established in 1879. After its old building in the city center was repurposed as Gedung Merdeka for the 1955 Asian-African Conference, a 2.6-hectare former rubber plantation in Ciumbuleuit was chosen as its new home.
Designed by renowned architect Ir. Gmeilig Meyling in 1957 and inaugurated under the name proposed by President Soekarno—Bumi Sangkuriang—the complex preserves its authentic tropical mid-century architecture with distinctive ventilated roster walls that provide natural, cool airflow.
